Using Technology
The students did most of the project research on the Internet, which provided them fast access to up-to-date information. An interesting surprise was the way in which the Internet's graphical user interface helped students with reading problems improve their researching techniques. They were able to collect and produce information much more successfully than when using traditional cataloging systems. Basic keyboarding is a part of the school's curriculum but the project required little special training other than discussing basic Internet search methodologies. The students used word processing programs for writing and editing the text, but then produced the comic book by hand.
