Providing student hosts to veterans
Student volunteered to be hosts and then were assigned to each of the 250 veterans in attendance. It was the responsibility of each host to contact the veteran prior to the day, explain the schedule, and find a meeting place at the school. The student hosts escorted their veterans throughout the day. The experience gave each student a lifetime memory of the time spent with the veterans and the veterans were delighted with their student hosts. Many veterans admitted openly that the experience left them feeling good about young adolescents.
