While looking at displays, Jim Davis, a WWII and
Korean War veteran, talks with a Vietnam veteran
on his experiences during the war.
Fundraising
Fundraising activities started at the beginning of the school year. The most
successful activity was the selling of dog tags. Students, staff, and community
members purchased dog tags commemorating relatives, friends, or acquaintances
involved in World War II. Some staff members ordered them for deceased relatives
and gave them as Christmas presents to other family members. Students and staff
also made contributions for the simple reward of providing a luncheon for a
veteran. In only a few weeks, over $4,000 was raised to cover the expense of
a luncheon and decorations.
