Hula instruction is one of many traditional Hawaiian
cultural topics captured on the CD-ROM produced
by Kalo, Inc.
Student work is evaluated based on quality of execution, appropriateness of
content (consistent with to Native Hawaiian values, culture, and traditions),
and suitability as saleable products. The experience of production for deadline
(preparing for events such as fairs and festivals) provides numerous opportunities
to assess process and project management (e.g., why are we running behind schedule?
how can we expedite this process?) The marketing of student products provides
a variety of opportunities to assess market research and saleability (e.g.,
what made this product so popular in the community? did this product have an
acceptable profit margin?) Students are also encouraged to supportively critique
their own work and the work of others during production.
