Each Eagle Wing Production project varies depending on the needs of the client, available time, and budget constraints. The function of Eagle Wing Productions is to help students apply the knowledge they are mastering in different disciplines to practical communication problems that require video solutions and to use appropriate technology to create new knowledge. Although the end product may vary, the production process is always the same. Eagle Wing Production students are expected to work as a team to take a video from concept to completion and understand all elements of the complete production process:
Pre-production: originate and evaluate ideas for video production elements; identify key features and materials; select investigative methods and conduct research; identify content considerations; select material for development; produce written treatments and scripts for presentation to clients and approval; conduct client meetings and understand client needs; conduct location scouting and assessment; develop a budget with the client; develop a shooting script; identify and secure resources for the production; identify technical requirements; identify creative requirements (i.e.: talent search/ auditions/rehearsal, music and sound effects selection, graphics/animation considerations); identify crew personnel and assign production roles; develop a production schedule.
Production: select appropriate equipment for both field and studio acquisition of audio and video elements; operate equipment to industry standards; record material and create a field footage log; direct talent; make adjustments to the shooting script as conditions change; meet budget caps and deadlines.
Post-production: log footage and evaluate as to usefulness and technical quality; select footage for off-line edit; organize additional production elements; sequence all production elements into an edit decision list; produce an off-line edit for client approval; make necessary adjustments; produce a final online edit according to the edit decision list inclusive of special effects, graphics, and audio sweetening; prepare an edit master and relevant dubs.
