Teachers and students worked together as a
professional ensemble, supporting and critiquing
one another to continually improve the quality of
the final products.
Students were assessed using real-world standards of excellence. They performed
to sold-out audiences and received an "exceptional" rating at the Mother Lode
Drama Festival. Environmental experts who participated in the audiograph gave
positive feedback to students, commenting on their professionalism and ability
to capture the complexity of issues regarding the environment. Students kept
journals and did extensive debriefing -- both in the context of collecting interview
material, and during and after the play. Students debriefed orally as an ensemble,
and with teachers and guest artists in person and in writing.
