




The project itself provided a way to gauge students' progress in language acquisition and their conceptual development. Before this project, most language assessment was accomplished through paper-based testing. Through the year, individual student development was much easier to gauge because students had to engage in conversation on a daily basis.
High school age students receive elective credits for all courses taken at the BOC. Components of the project mapped to Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements in ESL/Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Art.
