The calzone booth was a great success
on Market Day. Students ensured that the
operation met all Health Department
standards.
A variety of assessment tools are used as part of the program. Mental health
clinicians and staff provide behavioral feedback on an ongoing basis. Real-world
industry standards are used to assess students' products. For example, students
went through a Health Department audit when they organized and operated a calzone
booth at the local outdoor weekend market. The feedback of booth supervisors
and (most importantly) customers helped gauge students' success. Projects often
included opportunities for group discussion, debate, and problem solving. Most
activities culminated in informal and formal peer critiques as well as presentations
to and feedback from "experts in the field."
